Burbank is a city in the southeastern end of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County, California. Located 12 miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, Burbank is well known for being home to Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Studios, as well as having the largest IKEA in the United States. Burbank was laid out in 1887 by the Providencia Land, Water and Development Company. An early truck-manufacturing and motion-picture centre, it experienced rapid growth during the 1940s with the urban expansion of the Los Angeles metropolitan area and the development of the Lockheed aircraft and aerospace industries.
