The City of Littleton is a home rule municipality located in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson counties, Colorado, United States. Littleton is the county seat of Arapahoe County and is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Named for Richard Sullivan Little, a hydraulic engineer who purchased a large tract of land and settled in the area, it was designated the village of Littleton in 1872, a year after the railroad arrived there.
