The City of Sterling is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Logan County, Colorado, United States. Sterling is the principal city of the Sterling, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city population was 14,777 at the 2010 census. Founded by homesteaders along the South Platte River in 1881, Sterling quickly developed into a commercial hub on Colorado's eastern plains. Although it has been through its share of booms and busts, the town continues to serve as a regional economic hub.
