San Juan Regional Medical Center is a 194 bed, Level III Trauma Center that provides healthcare to the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado, in the United States. In October 2010, SJRMC received a three-year accreditation by Det Norske Veritas. In 1910, two physicians, Dr. G.W. Sammons and Dr. A.M. Smith, saw a community need for quality healthcare close to home. They started an eight-bed hospital so patients would not have to travel the treacherous 50 miles to Durango, Colorado.
