The School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Delta State University is seeking a full-time Instructor of Communication Studies. The position is non-tenured. The successful candidate’s prime responsibility will be teaching COM 101 (Public Speaking) and COM 202 (Interpersonal Communication), two vital courses for the general education curriculum. The faculty member will also teach COM 318 (Mass Communications), which is required for the Digital Media degree and is part of the Digital Media concentration in the Arts Entrepreneurship degree. If necessary, the successful candidate may teach other courses for the Digital Media degree. The hire will be expected to teach in face-to-face and online formats. The full-time teaching load is four courses per semester. Delta State University is a SACSCOC-accredited public university with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is located in Cleveland, Mississippi, in the center of one of America’s most culturally rich and ethnically diverse regions. Review of applications begins immediately. Qualifications A Master’s degree in communications studies. Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree in communications studies. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience in public speaking and interpersonal communication, as well as mass communication, digital media communication, broadcast communication, and/or sports communication. Background in digital media production, with the ability to teach upper-level courses in an interdisciplinary Digital Media program, is also preferred.
