It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy. The RN Staff Educator delivers clinical education, competency validation, and professional development programs to ensure staff readiness, patient safety, and regulatory compliance across Yale Health ambulatory services. This role supports both clinical and select non-clinical staff and plays a critical role in onboarding, annual training, remediation, and high-risk skill validation. The RN Staff Educator contributes directly to organizational readiness for accreditation, infection prevention, and patient safety standards. This position reports to the Manager of Clinical Staff Education and works in close collaboration with clinical leadership, Safety & Accreditation, Quality, Infection Prevention, and departmental managers. The RN Staff Educator assesses educational needs, designs and delivers evidence-based training programs, validates competencies, and maintains accurate education records to support regulatory compliance and high-quality ambulatory care delivery. Responsibilities include:Education & Training Delivery. Deliver onboarding, annual, and role-specific education programs for clinical staff. Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with healthcare trends, organizational priorities, and regulatory requirements. Create engaging learning environments using a variety of instructional methods and adult learning principles. Competency & Skill Validation. Validate clinical competencies and high-risk skills in alignment with Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, and Yale Health standards. Support remediation plans and targeted education for individuals or departments as needed. Program Development & Evaluation. Analyze educational needs across departments and service lines. Evaluate training effectiveness and refine programs based on outcomes, feedback, and compliance gaps. Collaboration & Liaison Work. Serve as a liaison to clinical departments, partnering with managers and leaders to deliver education within operational workflows. Collaborate with Safety, Accreditation, Infection Prevention, and Quality teams to support regulatory readiness. Operational & Administrative Support. Manage logistics and coordination required for successful program delivery, including course materials and scheduling. Maintain accurate, up-to-date education, competency, and participant records within learning management systems. Professional Development & Compliance. Maintain ongoing competency as a clinical educator and participate in professional development activities. Contribute to Yale Health’s success in achieving and maintaining regulatory and accreditation standards. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational needs. Schedule: Full-time, in-person, 37.5 hours/week; primarily Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Evening, weekend, holiday, or recess coverage may be required based on operational needs. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience .. Prior experience in staff education, precepting, quality improvement, or clinical training preferred .. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present effectively to large and small groups .. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy .. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Epic .. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professional accountability. Preferred Skills and Abilities. Master’s degree in nursing, Education, Public Health, or related field. Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum design, program development, delivery, and evaluation; experience with learning management systems (LMS). AHA BLS certification required; BLS Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Experience in ambulatory care strongly preferred. Principal Responsibilities 1. Performs physical assessments of patients, including triage duties and advises on treatment or course of action. 2. Identifies and evaluates nursing services problems and develops and implements appropriate programs and services, including assessing staffing needs and arranging coverage as needed. 3. Develops, implements, and manages nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians. 4. Instructs patients and families in proper treatment and advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. 5. Provides leadership, guidance, direction to clinical staff, and collaborates with nursing at all levels. 6. Determines standards for quality assurance and infection control procedures; trains staff in universal and isolation precautions in the area of infection control. 7. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic measures in collaboration with physicians. 8. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services. 9. Records patients’ medical histories and symptoms, performs diagnostic tests and analyzes results, operates medical machinery, administers treatment and medications, and coordinates with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; assures all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and two years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
