The QA/ QC Field Inspector serves as the owner’s on-site representative, responsible for verifying that construction activities comply with contract documents, technical specifications, and established quality standards. This role is proactive and process-driven, emphasizing continual oversight of the contractor’s Quality Control (QC) program to ensure that all work aligns with design intent and meets required performance criteria. The QA/ QC Field Inspector is accountable for all facets of quality assurance within assigned construction projects, including the development and implementation of project-specific QA/ QC plans, routine and milestone inspections, and documentation of conformance and non-conformance. The position ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Yale’s internal standards. Success in this role requires close coordination with project managers, contractors, design professionals, and other stakeholders to maintain consistent quality throughout the project lifecycle. The QA/ QC Field Inspector promotes proactive issue resolution, supports continuous improvement, and helps ensure that completed work meets the highest standards of safety, durability, and performance. Conduct regular field inspections to verify that workmanship, materials, and equipment conform to approved drawings, specifications, and design intent .. Witness and review contractor QC testing (e.g., concrete, soils, welds) and confirm compliance with required acceptance criteria .. Audit the contractor’s QC program, including documentation of the Three Phases of Control for each Definable Feature of Work (DFOW).4. Verify that the contractor’s QC Manager and required QC personnel are present on-site as required by the contract and specifications .. Prepare daily QA reports using Yale’s standardized templates; maintain logs of inspections, tests, certifications, and non-conformance reports (NC - Rs).6. Capture photo and video documentation of critical installations and deficiencies to support traceability and closeout .. Identify non-conforming work, issue NC - Rs as required, and verify timely and complete corrective actions before concealing or progression of work .. Act as the owner’s field liaison with the design team, contractor, commissioning agent, and internal stakeholders on all quality-related matters .. Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and product data for compliance with design intent and technical specifications .0. Participate in QC and OAC meetings, providing field-verified QA input and status updates .1. Support commissioning activities by verifying systems, spaces, and DFOW activities are ready for testing and inspections .2. Review construction documents for completeness, clarity, constructability, and alignment with Yale standards; escalate gaps or conflicts .3. Monitor contractor compliance with quality-related schedule milestones and procurement requirements .4. Confirm contractor safety practices align with Yale Safety Guidelines and identify field conditions that affect quality (e.g., access, protection, housekeeping).15. Provide real-time feedback to project leadership on quality risks, schedule impacts, and recommended corrective actions .6. Lead QA components of project closeout, ensuring all required testing, documentation, warranties, and as-built records are complete .7. Track and support resolution of warranty issues throughout the warranty period .8. Assist in reviewing change orders, pay applications, DFOW breakdowns, and QC-related contract documentation .9. Support move-coordination activities and ensure newly completed work is protected during transitions .0. Maintain organized electronic project files and QA/ QC documentation in compliance with Yale policies. Required Education and Experience. Bachelor's degree required, plus six or more years of related experience in the professional practice of Construction Management. Preferred Education and Experience?Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A minimum of eight years of experience in construction management or a related field, with specific experience in QA/ QC roles. Previous experience within a higher education or institutional setting is highly preferable. Preferred Licenses or Certifications 1. OSHA 30-hour certification ..
