The Division of Governance Interventions is a results-driven, mission-critical team leading transformative change in Texas education. We work at the highest levels of influence to strengthen leadership and accelerate improvement in local education agencies (LE - As), including school districts and charter schools, across the state. By partnering with school boards and administrators, we elevate governance practices, enhance financial stewardship, and ensure alignment with state education standards. Through strategic guidance, responsive support, and expert technical assistance, we help LE - As build resilient systems that foster student success and community trust. The Project Manager for Governance Interventions position plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and executing some of the most complex and consequential education reform work in Texas. Reporting to the Senior Director of Governance Interventions and working closely with senior leaders and cross-agency partners, this role translates strategy into disciplined action by managing detailed project plans, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring timelines, deliverables, and dependencies are actively monitored. The Project Manager establishes performance monitoring and reporting systems that drive accountability, inform decision-making, and support continuous improvement across interventions. This role will also work directly with school system leaders in managing the implementation of Corrective Action Plans issued by the Office of Governance, providing an excellent opportunity to interface with school districts and school district leaders across the state. Essential Functions Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned .. Project Management: lead end-to-end project management for complex governance interventions, including developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans, monitoring timelines, tracking milestones and deliverables, mitigating risks, and ensuring timely delivery of intervention activities aligned to division and agency strategy and objectives 2. Performance Management and Monitoring: design, implement, and maintain performance monitoring and reporting systems that provide clear visibility into progress, outcomes, and risks 3. Corrective Action Plan Monitoring: coordinate and monitor corrective action plans issued by the Office of Governance as a result of compliance reviews or investigations; offer ongoing technical assistance, coaching, and problem-solving support to district leaders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and effectively implemented; produce monthly reports to track progress and drive timely resolution 4. Division and Leadership Support: translate strategic priorities into executable workplans, prepare regular reports, and ensure leadership has accurate, timely information to support and guide data informed decision and adjustments 5. Process Improvement & Systems Building: identify opportunities to strengthen project management, performance tracking, and intervention workflows; develop and refine tools, templates, and standard practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across the division’s intervention portfolio Minimum Qualifications - Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university - Experience: At least four (4) years of experience in managing complex projects, as well as developing and implementing project management systems - Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience. Other Qualifications - Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military. - Ability to work collaboratively across teams using influence and excellent, clear communication to build alignment and support for project goals and performance management processes. - Experience working with district administration and working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Texas Education Code, Texas Administrative Code, and FERPA, preferred. - Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track timelines and deliverables, and maintain quality and consistency across work. - Ability to analyze information, track performance data, identify issues or risks, and support the development of practical plans and solutions to keep projects on track. - Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to support program teams in a consultative capacity, synthesize complex information, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally. - Demonstrated judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. - Desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback, and continuously improve. - Ability to work as a contributing member of a team by establishing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with all levels of staff (internal and external to TEA).
