Our Nursing Lab Director plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of nurses by overseeing the daily operations of the nursing skills and simulation labs that support our nursing programs. This position blends clinical expertise, education support, and operational leadership to ensure students experience high-quality, hands-on learning that prepares them for real-world patient care. In this role, you will partner closely with nursing faculty to design and deliver engaging simulation experiences, manage lab technology and equipment, and create a welcoming and supportive environment where students can develop confidence and clinical competence. You will also oversee lab staff and teaching assistants, coordinate schedules and resources, and ensure the lab operates efficiently and safely. This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys mentoring students, collaborating with faculty, and managing the behind-the-scenes systems that enable high-impact clinical learning. What you'll do 1. Nursing Lab Operations & Resource Management. Oversee the operational needs of the nursing lab and simulation environment. Manage budgets, maintain inventory, and ensure the lab is equipped with the supplies and materials needed for classes, student practice, and testing. Coordinate lab and simulation schedules to support faculty and student needs across nursing programs. Prepare the lab environment for classes, practice sessions, and competency testing by setting up and organizing equipment and learning stations. Ensure the lab is reset and ready for subsequent use. Coordinate sign-ups and reservations for lab space and debrief rooms, ensuring efficient use of learning environments. Provide additional lab and simulation coverage when needed to support the academic schedule. 2. Faculty Collaboration & Simulation Technology Development Manage the day-to-day operations of simulation equipment and technology. Ensure simulators, audiovisual tools, and related systems are functioning properly and ready for instructional use. Troubleshoot issues and coordinate maintenance as needed. Partner with nursing faculty to develop and implement simulation-based learning experiences, including electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medication administration systems. Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in nursing simulation education. 3. Student Engagement & Support. Build meaningful connections with nursing students through direct interaction in the lab environment. Provide guidance, encouragement, and support as students practice clinical skills. Participate in nursing program ceremonies and events to strengthen relationships and foster a positive student experienceSupport department admissions and recruitment events by showcasing the nursing lab and simulation environment to prospective students. 4. Staff Supervision & Teaching Assistant Leadership. Supervise lab staff and coordinate work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage. Provide onboarding, training, guidance, and ongoing support for team members. Supervise student teaching assistants, including hiring, training, scheduling, and providing feedback to support their success in assisting with lab operations. Qualifications. Education, Licensure & Experience. Required Education. RN - Preferred Education. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required Experience. Minimum of one year of clinical nursing practice required. Preferred Experience. Experience with clinical teaching, simulation, or student mentorship preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. Ability to lift, carry, push/pull up to 25 lbs., including boxes, training dolls, etc. Able to stand on step stool to reach top shelves. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment. Comfort working with evolving healthcare technologies and software. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students. A commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. Flexibility and adaptability in an environment with frequent schedule changes. Ability to support students who may need additional practice or remediation.
