You will oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes You will visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate customer requirements and determine the OSP equipment required You will work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer You will coordinate with drafting and/ or GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network You will develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format You will provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format per customer specifications You will research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (i.e., state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design You will recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency’s requirements You will research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit and other third party conduit You will engage daily with the customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in-person meetings You will maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies. What you’ll need To be 18 years of age or older Authorization to work in the United States for this company Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening. Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed. May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed. Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience Additional qualifications You have 4-6 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field - You have experience with aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements You have experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices You have effective communication skills You are able to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed You have reliable transportation and a clean driving record You may have familiarity in permitting requirements for state and local agencies You may have a working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Service) units and their meaning process Physical & Safety Requirements and the Working Environment: (The physical duties outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment for this position is low to moderate. Employees performing these job functions are required to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds in a shift. Employees may be exposed to adverse and various weather conditions which can include extreme hot or cold temperatures, icy or wet roads, rain, snow or sleet, changes in terrain, urban or rural settings. Employees performing these job functions may be exposed to toxic chemicals or corrosive material. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Pauley Construction, LLC; as well as the position of Technician Engineer Field, are safety sensitive. Pay Range: The Technician Engineer Field position pays an hourly wage of $20.00 - $22.00, depending on experience.
