The Role:In this role, you will supervise a group of salaried employees in the execution of business plans for the manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for providing support to manufacturing operations to help them achieve BPD plans and important metric objectives. Work is of a technical nature using independent discernment within the limits of GMS and standardized launch processes, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. You may oversee salaried employees involved in plant support operations in addition to the following responsibilities. What You'll Do:Strong Focus on Safety and Safety Systems are implemented regarding Vehicle Launch and Operations. Strong leadership focus and driving engagement and inclusion to the highest levels possible. People plan executed including onboarding of Salary Launch Staff, Core / Launch Team. Launch events happen successfully including driving events on the plant floor as required. Manufacturing launch readiness is complete and to work with program management on coordinating successful launch events and engineering changes. Launches are to occur without customer supply or quality impact from the first run at the plant through customer full capacity volume. Manage / track coordinate all Plant Launch activities. Ensure that all steps of the launch management checklist are completed. Communicate / review with plant and approve all tooling, equipment, gauges prior to build and in plant receipt (acceptance). Confirm equipment function at plant site. Communicate / drive and coordinate Launch review meetings. Coordinate and manage all build events and PPAP. Interface with Program Management, product engineering and Manufacturing Engineering group to ensure timely launch. Approve all engineering change implementation for the purpose of assuring a successful Launch, PPAP or any other customer deliverable. Plant quality requirements are addressed. Work instructions are all in place and effective. Reports to Assistant Plant Executive Director. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):10 years of progressive leadership in automotive launch or high-volume manufacturing. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience will be considered. Proven experience managing large teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across levels. Deep knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety standards, and lean principles. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic and operational plans. Experience with budget management and performance metrics. Familiarity with labor agreements and corporate compliance standards. What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):Prior launch experience as PLOM or launch manager for a department. Operated as lead or functioned as staff member. Demonstrated high level of analytical ability where the problems are unusual and difficult. Demonstrated Industrial Engineering skills and work measurement techniques to drive continuous improvement activities. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing and assembly processes and lean manufacturing knowledge/experience. Prominent oral and written communication skills.
