This opportunity is open for Austin. The AWS Graviton Software team is seeking Software Engineers to optimize performance for AWS Graviton. Graviton delivers the best price/performance in AWS data centers. For the past 2 years, Graviton has powered the majority of new EC 2 capacity and is used by over 90% of our largest customers. You'll drive performance optimization across open source projects, internal services, and customer applications, working on everything from Linux kernel development to C / Rust debugging to assembly-level optimization. Our team optimizes a diverse range of applications including databases, web services, games, video encoding, ML, and HPC workloads. This doesnt mean you have or will have all those skills, but youll have a chance to learn from those who do. This is a unique opportunity to impact how software runs in AWS, while growing your technical breadth and depth. Key job responsibilities. As a Graviton Software Developer, you will:Performance Optimization & Analysis - Enhance architectures and algorithms for optimal performance - Use tools like Aperf, sysstat, sysctl, perf to identify bottlenecks - Monitor and analyze processor, OS, and workload metrics - Optimize software performance for AWS customers and AWS services (such as S 3, Lambda, EMR, Elasti. Cache, RDS ..etc)Open Source Development - Contribute to Linux kernel improvements - Contribute to various other open source projects - Develop analysis frameworks and automation systems. Tool(s) Development - Enhance A - Perf (our open-source Rust-based performance tool) - Create new performance analysis features - Build and maintain automation solutions. The role offers opportunities to work on latest CPU technology while contributing to both AWS and the open source community. About the team. Annapurna Labs, part of AWS, created Graviton as a strategic ARM-based CPU initiative to revolutionize cloud computing at Amazon scale. Graviton instances deliver superior performance, cost efficiency, and reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional x 86 solutions. The Graviton Software organization drives customer and internal team migrations to Graviton by optimizing and stabilizing software ecosystems, contributing to open source projects (including Linux kernel, operating systems, compilers, libraries, and ML frameworks), developing automated services, and maintaining public documentation. Our work enables AWS customers and Amazon teams to leverage Graviton's advantages in performance, cost, stability, and energy efficiency. Basic Qualifications- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- Experience programming with at least one software programming language. Preferred Qualifications- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
