Location. This is a remote-based position within the Continental US. Responsibilities SDLC & Product Development. Participate actively in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-release support. Translate pharmacy workflows, regulatory requirements, and clinical rules into functional and non-functional system requirements. Collaborate with product managers, developers, QA, UX, and operations teams to ensure accurate implementation of pharmacy functionality. Review and contribute to system design documentation, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release notes. FDB Content Update Management. Manage the full lifecycle of FDB content updates including import, configuration, build, validation, and release. Review and interpret FDB release notes to identify impacts to clinical rules, drug files, workflows, and pricing. Build and test weekly FDB image files, weekly drug files, and monthly full update files. Publish the weekly clinical spreadsheet to FTP and communicate updates to customers including any vital DUR-related clinical changes that require urgent distribution. Clinical & Workflow Expertise. Serve as the pharmacy SME for dispensing system functionality, including prescription processing and verification, clinical screening and alerts, labeling and packaging, inventory management and controlled substances, and interfaces with EH - Rs, e. Rx, automation, and third-party systems. Validate that system workflows align with safe medication-use practices and real-world pharmacy operations. Validate medication records, NDC mapping, strengths, routes, package sizes, and drug classes. Configure and maintain PMS master data such as drug files, workflow rules, alerts, and dispensing logic. Testing, Validation & Quality Assurance. Lead or support user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and workflow validation for new features and enhancements. Develop test cases and scenarios based on clinical risk, regulatory requirements, and operational use cases. Identify, document, and prioritize defects and workflow issues; collaborate with development teams to resolve them. Support system validation and documentation required for regulatory compliance (e.g., state boards of pharmacy, DEA, CMS). Develop reusable clinical test scenarios and test plans; execute both manual and automated testing for PMS functionality. Record defects, track resolutions, validate fixes, and maintain audit-ready documentation. Support continuous improvement of QA processes and regression coverage. Regulatory, Safety & Compliance. Ensure dispensing system functionality complies with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., USP, DEA, state pharmacy laws). Evaluate the impact of regulatory or policy changes on system requirements and workflows. Support audit readiness and responses related to pharmacy technology and dispensing processes. Implementation & Ongoing Optimization. Support system implementations, upgrades, and configuration changes. Provide go-live support and post-implementation issue resolution. Analyze user feedback, incident reports, and system metrics to recommend enhancements and continuous improvements. Act as a liaison between end-user pharmacists and technical teams to drive adoption and usability. Coordinate change management, documentation, and production readiness across update cycles. Qualifications Education:R - Ph or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy. Active pharmacist license in good standing (or ability to obtain). Required Experience 2 years of experience in pharmacy practice, pharmacy informatics, or health technology. Experience working with pharmacy dispensing systems or pharmacy technology platforms. Hands-on experience managing FDB or similar drug database updates, including build, test, and release processes. Experience with testing, validation, and defect tracking. Preferred Experience. Experience working directly within a software development or product team. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other SDLC methodologies. Experience with system testing, validation, or release management. Residency training (PGY 1/ PGY 2 Informatics) or equivalent experience. Experience supporting FDA-regulated or validated systems. Experience with SQL or system-level data validation. Experience with automated testing tools. Familiarity with medication safety and clinical decision support systems. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. Knowledge of pharmacy automation, interfaces (HL 7, NCPDP), or EHR integrations. Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows, medication safety, and regulatory requirements. Ability to document requirements, workflows, and test scenarios clearly and precisely. Strong communication skills with both clinical and technical stakeholders. Core Competencies.
