The Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) provides health care access for eligible low-income residents of Kentucky including children, families, pregnant women, the aged and the disabled as well as a number of programs and services directed at specific eligibility and medical needs. This is a full-time hybrid role for an IT Project Manager. The Data Management branch within the Division of Information Systems was established to govern, organize, and secure data resources while delivering robust reporting and analytics solutions to support the Medicaid program and the residents it serves, ultimately enhancing overall health and driving positive health outcomes. The IT Project Manager will lead and coordinate administrative tasks related to data requests and data governance, including hosting meetings, preparing, and presenting materials to stakeholders. Learn more about us at: Responsibilities and Duties: Leads the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation for projects, data requests, and data governance, including functional requirements, data policies, and procedures, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to project standards. Leads and coordinates administrative tasks related to data requests and governance, including scheduling and hosting meetings, preparing materials, tracking action items, and ensuring follow-through. Collaborates with business stakeholders to analyze and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and manages the translation of these needs into clear, concise functional requirements for technical implementation. Oversees collaboration with technical teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements, leveraging emerging technologies to enhance data processes and outcomes. Develops and delivers presentations and project updates to internal and/or external stakeholders as needed. Monitors and tracks project progress using established project management methodologies, identifies risks, and develops and executes mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and timelines. Stays current on Department for Medicaid Services information systems and data governance policies, along with relevant industry best practices, to support informed decision-making and project success. Attends and actively participates in all assigned meetings, providing detailed notes, minutes, updates, and follow-up actions as requested to ensure effective communication and accountability. Performs other duties as assigned to support the Data Management branch’s mission and objectives. Preferred Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: Strong organizational and project management skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong skills with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Online. Detail-oriented approach to assignments. Ability to manage multiple projects at once. Ability to identify risks and communicate issues effectively. Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of information systems and data governance processes. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in project management or business analysis. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in computer science will substitute for two years of the required experience. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Two years of additional professional experience in project management, business analysis, or related field will substitute for the required education. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting or in a virtual office environment. Minimal travel may be required. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18 A.111.
