Mission or Department Overview The New York Times is looking for a part-time Developer/ Analyst to support the research and development of the primary infrastructure for our critical publishing and production operations. You will maintain essential in-house applications and workflows such as SAM, PAM, TAS, e. Shape, and Commercial Print. You will play an important part in ensuring these systems integrate with our broader production environment. You will research new technologies and concepts while collaborating with your teammates on architecture, design reviews and code reviews. We ask that you are a focus on building quality code and reliable systems that directly support our manufacturing processes. You will work with internal colleagues and contracted third-party developers to create specifications and manage JIRA tickets for application features. Responsibilities: Develop core applications that support publishing and production operations across multiple in-house systems Enhance internal platforms, including: Setup and Monitoring (SAM): Manages package planning, truck routing, and real-time monitoring of newspaper conveyor systems Press Analytics and Monitoring (PAM): Tracks and assigns press runs across production facilities Time and Attendance System (TAS): Calculates and manages weekly hours across multiple union groups with complex labor rules Electronic Shape (e. Shape): Schedules and manages weekly mailroom staffing and shift planning Manage development work using tools such as JIRA, ensuring delivery and understanding of project goals Develop technical documentation and user guide for our systems Provide training and support to end-users to ensure successful adoption of new features and system updates Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent professional experience. 10 years of software engineering and development experience. Experience with GitHub for version control. Experience developing client-server applications using Power. Builder and Oracle. Proficiency in JavaScript, MySQL, and working within Windows and Linux environments. Proficient in SQL and Excel for data management. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in printing plants and a knowledge of printing processes. Experience in Systems Analysts, specifically bridging the gap between user needs and technical implementation. Experience building and maintaining documentation for complex legacy and modern systems. #LI-Hybrid REQ-019899 The annual base pay range for this role is between:$95 - $105 USD -
