The Advising & Teacher Education Success (CATS) Office is the central hub for student support within UNI’s College of Education - a place where future educators, recreation professionals and nonprofit leaders find clarity, connection and momentum. The team provides comprehensive academic advising, licensure and program guidance and personalized support that helps students navigate their requirements with confidence. From major exploration and class planning to clinical placements, progress monitoring and teacher education milestones, CATS walks alongside students at every step of their academic journey. It’s a collaborative, mission-driven environment where advisors make a meaningful impact by empowering students to thrive and preparing them for purposeful careers in education and human services. Primary Function: Advises currently enrolled undergraduate majors in the College of Education (COE) and prospective students through drop in sessions, individual appointments and group meetings; participates in office's responsibilities for all COE students from first-year through graduation, and coordinates and communicates with COE departments and other Teacher Education affiliated programs regarding curriculum changes and participatory advising roles; works closely with other individuals responsible for determining eligibility for admission into various levels of Teacher Education program; increases retention and promotes student success; participates in campus conversations to more systematically provide advising and retention advice for all COE students; maintains appropriate and useful data for decision making; and serves as voice of COE, advising roles and responsibilities to other appropriate segments of the University. Qualifications: Master's degree in college student personnel or related field; excellent written and oral communication skills required. At least one year of advising experience; evidence of successful work in a collaborative team setting; and experience with various computer data systems preferred. Occasional work outside of normal office hours will be necessary. Graduate student experience will be considered. Position Details:Job Category: Professional & Scientific Type of Position: Regular.
