Executive Director of the Bridges and Learning Resource Programs

This leader will oversee the Bridges to Adelphi Program (“Bridges Program”) and the Learning Resource Program (“LRP”) and create a unit that serves students with excellence and provides pathways to employment and support for neurodivergent students after graduation. The Bridges Program serves students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism or executive function issues. The LRP provides an inclusive environment that enables students with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD to attain their educational goals. The two programs offer a number of services including academic, executive function, social, and vocational coaching and counseling support. Together, the programs currently serve about 200 neurodivergent students. We seek a leader who will direct the two programs and create a more unified organizational structure that effectively supports both. This person will also create and implement a Bridges from Adelphi program designed to help neurodivergent students transition from college to careers. SALARY INFORMATION:In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University. REPORTS TO: Interim Provost RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Academic Affairs:Implement a vision of excellence for services and resources with sufficient support and space for growth to allow successful outcomes for all students. Develop robust services and programming for neurodivergent students that is responsive to changing needs and creates a strong and supportive community. Manage and develop a professional staff and student workers with or without prior experience with the programs. Engage with students and monitor academic difficulties; provide guidance to the Provost on academic policies and procedures as needed. Ensure the effective implementation of the University’s academic policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with OASR and all academic units as well as the Registrar’s Office, Health Services, Collections and Billing, Student Financial Services, Intercollegiate Athletics and Student Affairs as necessary to ensure students are making progress toward their degrees. Oversee, with others, University registration of entering first-year students, with specific responsibility for course registration and final course confirmation for this population. Work closely with the Student Access Office to ensure students have the necessary accommodations and thereby promote a neuroinclusive campus that is “student-ready”. Retention and persistence:Supervise management and utilization of Adelphi’s e. Planner tool and track usage data to gauge retention and risk of neurodivergent students. Ensure best practice offerings for students and their families. Develop and promote workshops, video tutorials and in person consultation opportunities for faculty and staff to promote a neuroinclusive campus. Bridges from Adelphi to the world of work:Develop services and programs to prepare students for internships and professional employment. Create networks of support for neurodivergent students entering the workforce. Additional duties:Ability to work effectively with Bridges Advisory Board to develop programming and opportunities for students. Work closely with Advancement to raise funding for Bridges. Serve on key University committees including Title IX. Attend associate/assistant dean meetings and Provost’s Full Staff meetings. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Deep knowledge of neurodivergent college students and the ability to optimize experiences that will lead to personal, academic, and professional growth. Ability to evaluate risk, use data appropriate, and exercise good professional judgment in decision making. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to sustain broader work objectives while managing details. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc. Ability to use evidence for decision-making and focus on results. Strong business management skills and financial acumen. Strong computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smart. Sheet and e. Planner. EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Master’s degree in counseling or a related field is required; terminal degree is preferred. Minimum of 10 years in senior leadership in education with characteristics comparable to being a dynamic, innovative visionary and a strategic leader. Experience with neurodivergent students in an educational setting. Strong managerial experience with program reorganizations and rebranding. A proven record of successful leadership and managerial skills, preferably within an academic environment. An appreciation for, and desire to be part of, a student-centric community that is focused on the quality and value of all students and their success.
