Reviews area guest, financial, and team metrics to identify gaps and understand team behaviors. Celebrates wins, sets clear priorities, and leads actions that drive results and enhance the guest experience. Partners across teams to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience. Establish, manage, influence and validate a security culture by driving and improving physical security processes. Lead store response to emergency and crisis situations and develop security plans for in-store events. Educate store leaders and teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures. Identify shortage risks in key areas and develop strategies and tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales. Drive total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available to our guests. Guide AP team leaders in your district/market on strategies to execute company initiatives. Plan and lead investigative and verbal de-escalation trainings as needed; identify, plan and facilitate other trainings as needed for your AP team, store or district. Maintain all required training for you and your team. Manage identification and resolution of internal investigations including conducting internal interviews for your store and nearby stores in partnership with your leader. Anticipate and identify theft and shortage trends in your store and develop proactive strategies to prevent shortage and theft. Support store team in determining operational shortage priorities for store; educate and influence store teams on these priorities. Manage prevention (inclusive of merchandise protection budgeting), identification and resolution of external theft incidents and investigations. Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, based on security and theft patterns (this includes early morning/overnight shifts, evening and weekends). Build partnerships that allow you to identify market trends and competition strategies. Build a relationship of trust and accountability with your leader and Store Director in order to appropriately advocate for AP priorities and initiatives. Develop, schedule and deploy resources based on analysis of security and theft trends in your unique location. Plan, lead and follow up on organizational and operational changes. Establish and maintain a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management. Anticipate short-term and long-term staffing and scheduling needs. Manage talent planning, recruitment and AP payroll utilization. Support the onboarding and development of AP Team Leaders in your district/market. Develop, coach and lead your team members and Team Leaders (if applicable) to elevate their skills and expertise. Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practice and audit execution in partnership with key partners. Create, communicate, influence and educate AP priorities (including shortage priorities) to your team, peers and store teams. Develop and lead store safety culture and performance of the department through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards in partnership with store leaders, holding the team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately. Lead and direct safety program management routines such as Monthly Safety Meetings/ Observations. Order merchandise protection devices as needed to support the minimum standards for your store. Review and manage the allocated budget and adhere to the guidance in the Merchandise Protection Best Practice As needed, act as first responder for in-store safety incidents (e.g., security, weather, etc.). Create and lead a culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions. Train your team to provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest. Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences. As a key carrier, implement all security training and processes. Build and maintain relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders and law enforcement. Ensure our teams and tactics maintain Target’s reputation. Collaborate with retail organization partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security for guests and team members. Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests. Address all store emergencies and compliance needs. All other duties based on business needs. We have some amazing training that will help build upon the skills you already have to to succeed as an Executive Team Leader of Assets Protection, but there are a few things you should have from the get-go: 4-year degree or equivalent experience Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements for the position Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong business acumen Comfortable dealing with and managing teams through ambiguity Comfortable managing conflict, leading and holding others accountable Relate well with and interact professionally with all levels of the organization Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed Independently manage workload and prioritize tasks
