We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Accountant of Grants - Brooklyn. In this role, the successful candidate Reports to the Director of Grants, and prepares budgets and other financial materials for grant cost reimbursement, as well as application proposals, renewals, and assists in the monthly close of the accounting period. Works with the Director of Grants to ensure grant compliance. Assists the Grant Manager to close the books for the month. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the accounting of revenue and expenditures for assigned grants. Grant activities required for monitoring expenditures include, Time and Effort Attestations, Program Staff Grid Allocations and updating Budget vs. Actual Expenditure reports. Works on special grant related projects (i.e. Grant Applications, Grant Analysis, Audit Support) for the Director of Grants. Provides logistical support to the ensure overall compliance (i.e. Time and Effort Attestations, internal audits) of the grants team. Organizes and maintains support data/documentation for quarterly and monthly billings. Submits timely vouchers to various grant regulatory entities. Responsible for Accounts Receivable, Grant Revenue,Expenses and cash receipt analysis for grants assigned. Submits General Ledger entries for grant revenue, expenses, and receivables for grants assigned. Submits monthly and year end general ledger closing entries for grant revenue, expenses, and receivables for all Federal grants. Assists in the closing of the books monthly. Communicates with program staff with corrective actions regarding appointed grants. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries posted in General Ledger, in compliance with established accounting policies and procedures. Assists in the preparation of pertinent schedules and reports for monthly closings. Coordinates and assists with audits from assigned grant regulatory entities. Assists in the preparation of year-end audit work papers. Provides support in the completion of work papers and supporting statements for various management reports. Assists with annual grant reports and grant budgets. Coordinates with program staff to ensure proper allocation of other than personnel costs to assigned grants. Other job related duties as required Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelor's' Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field. Minimum of 2 years of Accounting Contract Grant Management experience. Monthly closing of the books experience. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
