Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor I – Boca Raton, FL. The College of Science Student Advising Services Office is responsible for providing general advising services. Summary of Responsibilities:Provide guidance and advising services to pre-health freshmen and sophomores. Provide assistance to freshmen and sophomore students at the beginning of their acceptance to FAU in planning for the Health Professions field and career. Coordinate the orientation and advising for freshmen and sophomore pre-health professional students, and work collaboratively with other academic services within the university. Evaluate student records and record management. Perform all advising functions within the Student Services Office. Assist with student registration, retention, and progress toward graduation. Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills. Specialization in Higher Education Administration/ Student Affairs. Experience with student database software and degree audit software, prior use of Banner/ DARS. Salary:$55,000 per year. College or Department:COS: Pre-Health Advising. Location:Boca Raton. Work Days and Hours:Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Weekends for outreach activities as needed.
