The Adjunct Instructor in Criminal Justice will deliver high-quality, in-person instruction in undergraduate Criminal Justice courses. Responsibilities include teaching assigned face-to-face classes, maintaining accurate records, assessing student learning, and supporting student success. Instructors are expected to follow the approved syllabus, meet all scheduled class sessions, and comply with university policies and academic standards. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with KSU's academic standards and the mission of the School of Criminal Justice and Government Relations. Support student learning across diverse educational settings, including traditional classroom, hybrid, and online formats, while preparing students for careers in criminal justice and public service. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Teach in-person undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice. Prepare and deliver course content aligned with program learning outcomes. Maintain regular office hours for student support and engagement. Assess student performance and submit grades in accordance with university deadlines. Maintain an updated course shell in the Learning Management System (LMS) prior to the start of each semester. Participate in required trainings and comply with institutional policies. OTHER DUTIES:Perform other duties as assigned. Duties may evolve based on university or programmatic needs. Additional Information:Modality Expectations: This position requires in-person, on-campus instruction. Online or hybrid instruction is not applicable for this role. Background Check: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check. QUALIFICATIONS:A Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in the discipline. Preferred:Prior teaching experience at the college level or university level. Terminal degree (PhD. or equivalent) in Criminal Justice or related field. Familiarity with learning management systems and online instructional tools. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Subject-matter expertise in criminal justice and related disciplines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to integrate practical, real-world applications into instruction. Technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems. Commitment to ethical standards, professionalism, and public service values. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:This position does not have any supervisory responsibility. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods during instruction or office hours. Operate classroom and instructional technology effectively. Communicate clearly and professionally with students and colleagues. Organize instructional materials, manage assessments, and meet academic deadlines reliably. Instruction may occur in traditional classrooms, partner sites, or online environments.
