Salary Range: $80,791.10 - $80,791.10 Works under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor. Directs and coordinates through subordinate personnel activities of workers engaged in maintenance, repair, and/or replacement. May supervise and perform duties in areas such as environmental maintenance in the repairing of sanitary sewer lines, connections, and manholes or in areas of drain maintenance supervising and performing duties such as water drain lines maintenance and repair. May supervise and perform duties in street maintenance such as pothole repair, Right-of-Way (ROW) brush and weed cutting, removal of down tree, and guard rail replacement. May supervise and perform duties in areas such as heavy equipment services in excavation and grading of drainage canals involving infrastructure repairs. Supervises personnel providing training, work direction, and evaluation of work performance. Evaluates work demands and makes daily assignments to foreman responsible for ensuring their completion. Adjusts work schedules to meet work demands and shortage of staff. Conducts field inspections to review work and to evaluate work requirements such as type of equipment needed. Dispatches crews to prevent or correct various stoppages such as sewer or drain when assignment requires. Supervises emergency response operations for natural disasters and inclement weather which includes snow and ice control as needed. Inspects equipment daily, substitutes equipment needing repairs, and prepares work order for maintenance required. Develops and implements preventative maintenance program for equipment. Maintains inventory of equipment and parts. Reviews and evaluates daily activity reports to determine problem areas, notifies supervisor, and recommends preventive measures. Completes daily activity reports, interprets policies and contract memorandums for personnel, takes the appropriate disciplinary action when necessary according to established rules/practices, and confers with personnel representatives to attempt to resolve grievances. Investigates and resolves citizen complaints and requests. Inspects various work areas by driving to work sites. OTHER FUNCTIONS - Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requires ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with citizens and staff members. Requires ability to inspect work areas traversing wooded and river swamp areas, climbing, bending, kneeling and stooping. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Requires the ability to interpret blueprints if assigned. Must be able to operate an automobile to drive to various locations. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Majority of work is performed outdoors to inspect work activities, to evaluate work requirements, and to respond to problem situations. Work may be performed in adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to odors, noise, dust, pollen and fumes. Must be able to be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week for emergency responses. Must work assigned shift. High school graduate and six (6) years' experience in Public Works maintenance in areas such as sewer line, environmental, street maintenance, drain maintenance, or heavy equipment services with one (1) of the six (6) years in a supervisory/lead capacity; or any combination of training and experience which enables one to perform essential job functions emergencies. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment.
