This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Department of Corrections. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. As the 6th Judicial District Director for Community-Based Corrections, this position serves as the executive leader responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of a multi-faceted correctional district, encompassing residential facilities and probation and parole offices. Central to this role is the stewardship of organizational culture and employee wellness; the Director is responsible for cultivating a resilient, inclusive work environment that prioritizes staff's mental and physical health while fostering a mission-driven culture of professional excellence. By integrating wellness into the district’s foundation, the Director ensures that the workforce is supported and empowered to provide a safe, humane, and effective continuum of care for justice-involved individuals. Within the required timeframe, new hires will be verified through the E-Verify system to ensure authorization to work in the United States. For more information, please visit Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and the equivalent of five years of full-time management experience in a correctional, mental health, intellectual disability or juvenile correctional or training facility;O - Ran equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year of the above type full-time work experience for each year of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;O - Ran equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year (twenty-four semester or equivalent hours) of graduate level course work in penology, the social/behavioral sciences, business administration or public administration, for each year of the required full-time experience to a maximum substitution of two years.
