The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. No Health/ Fringe Benefits with this position. This position is limited to a maximum of 35 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year. Travel within the tri-county vicinage may be required. This position may be reassigned to another county within the vicinage. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
Example of Duties
Vicinage 15 (Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties) is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual with strong customer service, technical, teamwork, and written communication skills to support the Civil Arbitration Program on a part-time basis. Under the supervision of management, the selected candidate will perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of complementary dispute resolution programs, with a primary focus on arbitration services. This role involves frequent interaction with attorneys, court users, and staff. Key responsibilities include:Entering and maintaining data in the Automated Case Management System (ACMS) Scanning, retrieving, and managing documents within the electronic case system (e. Courts) Scheduling arbitration panels and coordinating calendars Checking in attorneys and parties for arbitration proceedings Reviewing correspondence and system-generated reports for accuracy Preparing, processing, and distributing mail and official communications Responding to telephone inquiries and providing general assistance to court users Utilizing standard office software, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word Operating general office equipment and maintaining organized records Performing filing and other related administrative duties as assigned Regular and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payment for fees, recording monies received, transcribing information, reconciling balances or accounts, scheduling meetings or appointments. TESTING: Candidates for appointment must pass an appointing authority qualifying examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute or possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission or New Jersey Judiciary.
Supplemental Information
Physical Ability: For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information. Residency Law: In accordance with N. J. S. A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
