Within the Office of Teaching and Learning, the Division of Diverse Learners leads statewide efforts supporting students with disabilities and English learners through policy, data, and strategic support. We are seeking an Education Consultant Supervisor to lead our SPED Policy, Data, and Reporting team. This role serves as a key leader and subject matter expert, overseeing IDEA data reporting, fiscal guidance, compliance support, and policy implementation across the state. The position also supervises a team of three staff and works closely with internal divisions and school systems to ensure alignment, accuracy, and strong outcomes for students. This is a unique opportunity to influence statewide systems, shape policy, and directly support school systems through data-driven decision-making, compliance guidance, and cross-division collaboration. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and experienced leader who can translate complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance for the field. Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:Experience working with IDEA data collections, federal reporting, or state-level education data systems Strong understanding of special education policy, compliance requirements, and fiscal processes Experience providing technical assistance or support to school systems or districts Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate findings into clear guidance or recommendations Experience supervising staff, setting priorities, and managing timelines across multiple projects Ability to collaborate across teams (e.g., finance, legal, accountability, monitoring) to align work Experience developing guidance documents, tools, or training for educators or stakeholders Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when simplifying complex information
Minimum Qualifications
Nine years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR - Six years of full-time work experience plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORA bachelor's degree plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR - An advanced degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:In this position, you will: Provide technical assistance to school systems on IDEA data, compliance, and fiscal requirements Serve as a primary contact for LE - As on data reporting, submissions, and issue resolution Supervise and support staff responsible for SPED data, policy, and reporting Oversee federal reporting (e.g., SPP, APR, IDEA Part B) to ensure accuracy and timeliness Develop and communicate policy guidance aligned to federal and state requirements Collaborate with internal teams (monitoring, fiscal, legal, accountability) to ensure alignment Oversee IDEA fiscal components, including High Cost Services and Super App processes Analyze data trends to identify risks and inform decision-making Communicate clear expectations, timelines, and guidance to stakeholders Maintain compliance calendars to ensure all federal and state deadlines are met Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected. Work Schedule: Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $33.65/hour. - - Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
