Supervise, plan and coordinate security activities and operations within the assigned division; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the higher-level supervisory or management staff. Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation. Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities for assigned security services including conducting daily facility checks. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures. Identify opportunities for improving service-delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements. Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned security services; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems. Maintain training records for security officers being recertified; maintain daily staffing records for accountability and monitoring purposes. Maintain security-issued equipment in good working order; repair equipment as necessary; ensure adherence to safe work practices. Oversee handling of vaults, money, fareboxes and computer probing of boxes; ensure audits are pulled and all farebox readings are complete. Select, train, motivate and evaluate security personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. Participate in the development and administration of assigned budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary. Provide staff assistance to the Security Superintendent; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary. Coordinate security activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of security supervision. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of college level course work in law enforcement or criminal justice; and. Four (4) years of security experience; and To include one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
