Advertising Department OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & RESEARCH Academic Term/ Year SUMMER 2026 Position Title Student Employment - SECU Public Fellows Internship Posting Number 08044 Position Number 08044 Student Job Category Student - Hourly Job Number of Vacancies 20 Job Description ECU Office of Community Engagement and Research is currently seeking several SECU Public Fellow Interns. SECU Public Fellows Internship participants will take part in 20 hours of leadership and professional development workshops in addition to the 220 hour internship experience at the site they have been chosen for. Students will be expected to attend a MANDATORY orientation on May 15, 2026, attend workshops scheduled throughout their internship, and at the end of their internship, and present at a State Employees Credit Union Advisory Board meeting either in summer or fall. Each student will report to one of the twenty predetermined sites for their 330 hour internship from May 18, 2026 – August 15, 2026. Each student will receive an email confirmation on which site they have been accepted at for the summer. The fellowship is contingent on the following: Attendance at a mandatory program orientation May 15th from 9:00 AM –4:00 PM at the Willis Building (300 E 1st Street, Greenville) Completion of professional development materials through Canvas; Completion of 330 internship hours (requirements to satisfy your degree program are separate from this fellowship award; thus, the hours required may differ); Presentation for State Employees Credit Union advisory board meeting; Attendance at program meetings to occur on dates TBD in June, July and August from 5:30-7:00 contingent on schedules; Attendance at the award reception in September 2026 (exceptions can be made for course meetings and/or requirements that occur during the reception time); Completion of an essay summarizing your internship and its impact on the community you worked in (a template for completing this requirement will be provided in Canvas); Completion of a program evaluation for the SECU Public Fellows Internship; and, Willingness to meet with the SECU Foundation Board, upon request. Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.) Each student should be enrolled in classes in either the summer or the fall, not be graduating prior to the internship end date, be a North Carolina resident, and be in good academic standing.
