The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations within a continuous glass manufacturing environment. This role provides direct leadership across plant operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and cost control, while driving continuous improvement and developing high-performing teams. Serving as a technical leader and glass manufacturing expert, the Assistant Plant Manager supports furnace operations and ensures performance against key plant objectives. Key Responsibilities. Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing operations, including batch & furnace, forming, process, selecting, carton assembly, materials management, quality, service, and plant engineering. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, production efficiency, and cost. Lead furnace operations to achieve KPIs for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Flexibility, and Cost. Provide technical leadership in glass manufacturing processes, including high-temperature continuous operations. Ensure compliance with AOQ/ ISO quality systems, OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Analyze operating data and performance trends to identify improvement opportunities. Develop and support production planning, forecasting, and cost management. Lead, coach, and hold teams accountable to performance goals; promote strong employee relations and engagement. Support customer quality and service requirements through coordination with sales and customer visits as needed. Manage labor relations responsibilities and ensure adherence to labor agreements Qualifications. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 8 years of manufacturing experience, with glass manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Proven leadership experience managing teams in a continuous manufacturing environment. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Experience leading technical process improvements and responding to operational challenges
