Research Assistant I, School of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology - Georgetown University. We are seeking a Research Assistant I. This position is supported by external funding and is open immediately for the duration of one year, with the possibility of extension. This is a laboratory research position in the laboratory of Dr. Kyle Di. Vito at GUMC. The research aims will use advanced tissue engineering to explore the immunosecretome in endothelial cells in response to non-infectious viral proteins. This position is a full-time, in-person position without the option for remote work. The candidate should hold an MS degree in Biotechnology (or related field) with previous research experience (Duties include but are not limited to:Performing full-time laboratory research. Collecting and presenting data during weekly laboratory meetings. Cell culture will drive the majority of the experiments and weekend work may be required. Assisting in the training of internship students over Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Work Interactions. This work is in support of the DC CFAR funding opportunity. Work supporting this funding will develop a better understanding of how non-infectious viral proteins influence the human blood-brain-barrier as well as other organ systems. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to further build their research experience, learn innovative techniques in tissue engineering. The candidate will also become part of a vibrant Department within the School of Medicine and contribute to the foundational goals of the School of Medicine by conducting advanced research in support of human health. The Research Assistant will report directly to Dr. Di. Vito whom is an Associate Professor in the Biochemistry Department. Requirements and Qualifications. This position requires an MS degree in Biotechnology (or equivalent)1 year of laboratory experience. Previous work in growing mammalian cells is essential. Work Mode Designation.
