The University of Nevada, Reno’s Residence Halls are seeking to hire several Community Desk Assistants for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Community Desk Attendant (CDA) is an essential position within the Residence Halls at UNR. This position provides front desk services to all residents, guests, and university staff within our eight residence halls. CD - As are an integral part in providing a safe and secure living environment within the residence halls while helping build a sense of community and belonging among its residents! CD - As accomplish these initiatives by working shifts at one of our 24/7 customer service front desk locations within the residence halls. Responsibilities. The CDA responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Work to build and support a sense of belonging and community within the residence halls through:Welcoming all residents, guests, and/or visitors to the residence halls with a greeting and a smile. Participating in Front Desk and Lobby area Programming planned by desk leadership staff. Helping create, maintain, and properly take down desk decorations. Provide core Customer and Front Desk Services, such as:Answer the front desk phones and assist with any questions or concerns as able. Transfer phone calls to other department staff as appropriate. Assist guests and visitors with information regarding the residence halls and the broader UNR campus. Utilize departmental housing software called Star. Rez to assist residents with the following procedures:Welcome residents and perform check-ins at the desk. Issue, track, and return permanent and temporary lockout keys and access cards. Receive, log, and issue delivered packages to residents. Check out and return residence hall resources and equipment to residents. And other duties such as:Utilize Web. Campus to complete general administrative duties, such as completing communication and key logs. Assist with crises such as fire alarms, power outages, safety and maintenance concerns, and other emergencies. CD - As may also need to direct residents and guests to a safe area away from danger depending on the situation. Attend all scheduled staff meetings, staff trainings, and individual one-on-ones as determined by the CDA’s direct supervisor. Enforcing Residence Hall policies and confronting/documenting individuals that violate these policies or are seen as a possible concern; Contacting live-in staff and authorities in serious situations or as needed. Show up to scheduled hours such as weekdays, weekends, and overnight as a part of regularly scheduled shifts. Required Qualifications. Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
