To provide instrumental music lessons and classroom experiences to middle grade students in order to foster an appreciation of music and to nurture musical skills. Qualifications Required:Holds or is eligible for the Connecticut State Certification in music (049)Possesses a degree from an accredited institution. Strong knowledge of the National Core Arts Standards. Experience in working effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community groups. Excellent oral and written communication skills Performance Responsibilities:Conducts ensemble rehearsals for school orchestras in preparation for performance. Provides small group lessons to beginning strings students based on skill level. Organizes, rehearses, and directs school performances and other musical events showcasing student achievements. Develops and implements classroom lessons that foster music literacy and appreciation. Maintains school owned property; makes adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as needed. Participates in faculty and department meetings, professional development activities. Communicates with staff and families regarding student progress. Adheres to ethical and professional standards in education. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time. Terms of Employment: As established by the Contract between the Weston Board of Education and the Weston Teachers\ Association. Reports to: Principal. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Weston\s Educator Evaluation, Growth, and Support Plan and applicable State Statutes.
