This position is responsible for transcribing data from taxpayer documents and verifying the accuracy of captured data. Essential Functions Under direct supervision, transcribes data from varied taxpayer source documents to a Key Multi-Media Data Entry System. Enters and verifies material for projects and jobs of a specialized nature required by processing procedures or as directed by management. Assists supervisor by providing guidance and assistance to new Data Processing Assistants to resolve machine or format problems. Attends training on a routine basis to stay current with processing/policy changes and data entry rules. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school supplemented by one year's previous related experience such as is typically gained at the Data Processing Operator level. Requires the ability to key alphanumeric data accurately from a wide variety of sources into data entry software systems at a rate of 8,300 keystrokes per hour (KPH). Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of experience working with data processing operations operating procedures. Two (2) years of experience organizing and managing work assignments to meet expected deadlines. Two (2) years of experience utilizing basic mathematical skills to accomplish daily work tasks. Two (2) years of experience handling confidential data and following privacy protocols. Two (2) years of experience verifying work is accomplished in accordance with policies and procedures. Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check. This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires the ability to key alphanumeric data accurately from a wide variety of sources into data entry software systems at a rate of 8,300 keystrokes per hour (KPH).
