Conducts the annual friction survey of selected roadways on the Wyoming state highway system using a specially designed friction trailer in accordance with ASTM E 274 Ensures the friction test vehicle and trailer meet all safety requirements, traffic laws are observed, and testing is performed in a manner that is safe and courteous to the public. Develops and maintains field reports including, but not limited to, the following information: location and road section, date and time of day, weather conditions, lane and wheel path, pavement type, and skid number Maintains testing equipment to ensure it is operating within calibration and specification. Diagnoses and troubleshoots basic mechanical and software problems. Schedules travel and data collection activities for the most efficient use of time and resources. Processes collected friction files and generates reports for the annual Pavement Management System Analysis Report
Qualifications
PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to those who have a Valid driver’s license and Mechanical skills. KNOWLEDGE: Written and oral communication. Ability to read, understand, and implement technical procedures. Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and be seated for long periods while collecting data across the state. Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires extensive in-state and occasional out-of-state travel. Keeps up with new equipment and test procedures. Learns how to maintain and repair equipment without damaging or affecting the calibration. Recognizes problems with the quality of data being obtained and trouble-shooting equipment or procedures used. NOTES: FLSA: Non-Exempt.
