Examples of Duties
Manage TIF District Surplus Distribution, including accounts receivable, deposits, and issuing checks to taxing authorities. Process non-appeal tax refunds for duplicate payments, overpayments, and exemptions. Respond to taxpayer inquiries regarding real and personal property tax status in person and by phone. Handle audit confirmation requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Administer refunds resulting from State Tax Commission and Board of Equalization appeal decisions. Balance and report levee district payments, pool/billiard fees, and peddler fees. Maintain accounts receivable for Paid Under Protest tax payments and initiate fund releases when appropriate. Perform related accounting tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. The work rules for the Department of Revenue require all employees, whether they reside in St. Louis County or elsewhere, to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes
