Overview of Position:The City of Springfield has an opening for a GIS Technician. The position is responsible for collecting, digitizing, and managing spatial data using Esri ArcGIS software, SDE databases, mobile devices, and other types of software. You will be joining the City’s GIS team of five creative GIS professionals. The GIS group provides a wide range of services from traditional mapping, data management, spatial analysis, systems integration, application development and much more. Training & Experience:The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include: - Associate degree or two-year certificate in the field of GIS, geography, computer science planning, engineering, or related field, and; - 0-2 years of experience performing basic and routine supportive technical tasks including entry-level data collection, data entry, and basic spatial analysis.
