Please review these important details before applying for this position: - This position offers non-traditional scheduling opportunities. - The position provides additional training and certification opportunities, regular supervision, and functions as part of a supportive and close-knit team. - The position requires flexibility and competency to collaborate with professionals across systems, including law enforcement partners, and to practice in various settings. This is a professional position responsible for providing Mobile Response Services for individuals and families in the community. Using a team approach provides crisis intervention services to the individuals and families including assessment, de-escalation of crisis, crisis and safety planning, psychoeducation, and referrals to community resources. As part of the Crisis Services Department, this position is considered essential staff and may be cross-trained in support of maintaining 24/7 emergency behavioral health services, including telephone/virtual services, walk-in contacts, and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, benefited position working at the Community Mental Health Hoover Site located at 347 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 4 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Flexibility with hours may be needed at times to accommodate community needs. Travel to other county locations as needed.
Essential Job Functions
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Responds directly to behavioral health crisis in the community as part of a two-person team. Monitors safety of response environment and coordinates with other emergency services as necessary. Engages with consumers and their natural supports, as appropriate, to de-escalate crisis, identify appropriate services or supports, plan for safety and ongoing crisis stabilization, and collaborate to address barriers and risks to recovery. Provides quality direct consumer care encompassing clinical assessment, brief therapy, crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and case management as appropriate. Provides consultation to other agencies regarding services and mental health issues of consumers and referrals. Provides community education regarding mental health issues and CMH services. Collaborates effectively and efficiently with other community agencies. Maintains all agency paperwork and clinical record documentation in an accurate and timely fashion. Attends and participates in agency meetings as well as program-specific team meetings. Coordinates efforts with CIT Team Manager and stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Training and Experience
Licenses and Certifications: Must possess or obtain State of Michigan licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Limited Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Limited Licensed Counselors, or Temporary Limited License Psychologist. Additional certification as a CADC, CAADC and CCS are preferred. Candidates who are close to obtaining the required licensing may be considered. Or. Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a human services field and relevant behavioral health services experience; a minimum of 1 year for those with a master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years for those with a bachelor’s degree and including 1 year of experience treating or working with children, adolescents, and families in a behavioral health clinical, educational, or crisis intervention setting. Lived experiences with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders are valued. Training: Applicants must have completed or be able to complete all MDHHS-required training necessary to provide crisis services to all populations within 6 months of hire. Master’s degree candidates will be paid at paygrade 10. Bachelor’s degree candidates will be paid at paygrade 8.
Additional Requirements and Information
Required Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of DSM 5 and the ASAM criteria; working knowledge of assessment tools such as CAFAS, PECFAS, and C-SSRS. Working knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code Thorough working knowledge of assessment and interventions for consumers dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse disorders; flexibility in the selection of appropriate interventions for each consumer. Good understanding of agency processes, procedures, and quality assurance principles. Engages consumers easily; excellent interpersonal communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Participates with and accepts clinical and administrative supervision. Valid Driver’s License and ability to navigate throughout service area.
