Working under the general supervision, of the Foreman/ Manager, performs a variety of unskilled & semi-skilled duties to maintain County right-of-way’s and properties. Work may be as part of a workgroup or individually. Essential Job Duties Assists Irrigation Tradesworker in diagnosing & repairing plumbing and electrical issues within irrigation systems. Operates zero-turn and walk behind mowers performing assigned vegetation maintenance duties. Operates string-line trimmers and edger’s performing assigned vegetation maintenance duties. Operates hedge clippers, pole saws, and chain saws in the performance of assigned vegetation maintenance duties. Performs manual labor harvesting and loading tree limbs as needed. Performs manual labor in the chipping of vegetation as needed. Chipping up limbs. Establish elevations in easements & rights-of-way with a grade laser. Manually cleans debris and vegetation from ditches. Typical Requirements Education/ Experience:High school diploma / GED and three years of working experience related to manual labor in the construction industry, commercial landscaping maintenance, and/or maintenance of irrigation systems. Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:Must possess a valid Class E Driver’s License. A valid Florida Class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker and/or hazmat and tanker endorsements is preferred. Holders of a Class A or B CDL are eligible for incentive pay based on the CDL license classification and endorsements. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:Knowledge in the safe operation of various types of hand tools and landscaping equipment. Knowledge of the safe operation of lawn mowing equipment along roadways under traffic conditions. Knowledge of standard Florida Maintenance of Traffic processes and procedures. Knowledge of the operation of hand tools, mowing equipment, and the techniques for the use of this equipment in maintaining vegetation along roadways. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
