The Kentucky River Authority is currently seeking individuals to work as a Lockmaster. The Lockmaster is responsible for locking recreational boaters through the locks from Frankfort, Kentucky to Carrollton, Kentucky. The Kentucky River Locks and Dams 1 - 4 are operational from Memorial Day weekend through the end of October each year. This is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday work schedule. Once the locks close for the season, the work schedule reverts back to a Monday through Thursday work week schedule, from November through April. In the non-locking months, the lockmaster will perform maintenance on equipment, buildings, and grounds. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Operation of locks. Maintenance of equipment. Mowing and landscaping activities. Safely operates mechanical equipment, such as tractors, mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, welders, and other equipment. Performs duties in the maintenance of buildings. Preferred Skills and Abilities include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible and positive outlook.
