Glimpse of the Job and Your Opportunity to Contribute Texas A&M University is hiring a Senior IT Professional to join the Architecture and Engineering department. This role will serve as a senior resource, applying expertise in virtualization, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as a service, and storage to support the Texas A&M Private Cloud. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience 8 years of related information technology experience A well-qualified candidate should possess one or more of the following: In-depth familiarity with Linux operating systems and directory services such as Open. LDAP, as well as experience with Microsoft Active Directory/ Entra. Proficient in virtualization, storage, backup systems, and disaster recovery. Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/ CD processes, using platforms like GitHub or GitLab. Familiarity with Kubernetes and Container orchestration. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Node.js, HCL, Terraform. Experience deploying system architectures in public cloud environments (Google, Azure, AWS). Experience writing and consuming REST APIs and cloud web services like Azure, AWS and GCP Experience in strategic disaster recovery and business continuity planning is desirable. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and approaches. Ability to manage client relations and assess requirements effectively. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, facilitating knowledge sharing and solution integration. Influencing strategic partnerships and integrating solutions to improve operational efficiency. Eagerness to engage in professional development activities to continuously advance skills and knowledge. Familiarity with strategic thinking, planning skills, and project portfolio management. Basic understanding of IT industry trends, security regulations, and emerging IT issues. Familiarity with ITIL/ ITSM frameworks and understanding of context/interrelationships in project management. Knowledge of network protocols and theory, including TCP/ IP and OSI layers, with a basic understanding of load balancing. Practical experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi. Solid knowledge of databases, particularly Big. Query, MySQL, and MS-SQL. What you need to know Salary: Up to $80,000 commensurate with education and experience Location: In-person role in College Station, Texas Schedule: This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.
