The University of Connecticut (UConn) is pleased to invite applications for a faculty position in the Department of Mathematics at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor at its Storrs campus beginning August 23, 2026. This position will teach seven undergraduate courses during the academic year, using a 4/3 or 3/4 semester load format. Founded in 1881, UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant institution and member of the Space Grant Consortium. It is the state’s flagship institution of higher education and includes a main campus in Storrs, CT, four regional campuses throughout the state, and 13 Schools and Colleges, including a Law School in Hartford, and Medical and Dental Schools at the UConn Health campus in Farmington. The University has approximately 10,000 faculty and staff and 32,000 students, including nearly 24,000 undergraduates and over 8,000 graduate and professional students. Record numbers of undergraduate applications and support for student success have enabled the University to become extraordinarily selective. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A PhD. (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics (granted by August 2026). Proven track record in both teaching excellence and deploying innovative pedagogical strategies in University-level teaching as the primary instructor or instructor of record. Demonstrated experience in effectively engaging with a broad range of perspectives in teaching. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with educational technologies, such as online homework systems, message boards, videos, smartboards, and interactive technological teaching tools. Experience teaching large lectures. APPOINTMENT TERMS This position is a full-time, nine-month, Storrs campus position for an initial duration of one year, renewable for up to two additional years (three years total), contingent on satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and availability of funds. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
