Schedules patient testing, procedures, and admissions; obtains pre-certification/authorization numbers and enters them into the scheduling or registration system; collects and enters accurate insurance information; and answers incoming phone calls. Schedules patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing, procedures, and admissions, ensuring patients are not scheduled when personnel are unavailable. Notifies patients or physician office staff of any out-of-network carriers or issues that may result in reduced benefits. Communicates special instructions, testing requirements, and any other pertinent information or documents to patients or physician office staff. Maintains awareness of next-day scheduling reports to ensure registration staff are prepared for arriving patients, appropriate testing is performed, time slots are available, and the necessary staff are scheduled. Obtains physician orders and required authorization or pre-certification. Enters outpatient procedures into the Order Entry System. Ensures consistency between the scheduling module and the admissions module for patients being admitted for services. What we’re looking for Education:High school diploma or equivalent Required or at least three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education. Skills:Fluent in Spanish Work Experience:Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred. Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred.
