Maintaining HVAC systems – 80%Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation. Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for resolving immediate safety concerns. Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for ensuring availability in safe operating condition. May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems. Special Projects – 20%Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Assists with special projects as assigned. Qualifications. Must have one or more of the following:High school Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of trade school . years’ relevant experience. EPA license (level l). Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience. Competencies:Critical thinking skills. Decisive judgment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Able to work in a stressful environment. Review and interpret highly technical information. Write technical materials. Speak persuasively to implement desired actions. Ability to solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies: -Monitor indoor air equipment and interpret resulting data.-Understand standards for design and construction.-Understand and interpret air conditioning and heating codes.-Understand hazards and safety precautions.-Work in refrigerant handling and disposal. #MFMBM
