What you will be doing: You’ll report to the director, finance and administration. Directly supervises the senior cooks, cooks, cook helper, and student intern/ WBL Responsible for the management of food services, which includes the cafeteria and special center functions in compliance with government and management directives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and food service activities of the department. Log menu items seven days in advance in the MTC Student App, including dietary preferences or allergies if applicable. Fulfill to-go meal orders from the MTC Student App for work-based learning students or any other students that need one. Evaluate staff performance, provide staff training, and recommend personnel changes to the director, finance and administration and coordinated with human resources prior to implementation. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting food services. Plan the menu. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports. Conduct inspections of food service areas. Manage preparation of food services for special center functions and visitors. Provide appetizing, nutritious and realistically proportioned meals in a clean, comfortable environment. Ensure quality of production and food purchase requirements; maintain cost control to stay within budget limitations; assist in inventory control. Coordinate cafeteria services with culinary arts CTT program. Conduct monthly surveys to assess student satisfaction with food services. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers. Participate in student employability programs and activities. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and one-year related experience or associate’s degree and two years related experience required. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements. Supervisory experience preferred. Valid food handler's permit required in state of California. Experience working with youth, excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency also required. Management & Training Corporation (MTC)
