The Director of Spiritual Care is responsible for managing the Spiritual Care Department. He/ She oversees and ensures the provision of spiritual care to patients, their caregivers/family, and staff. The Director of Spiritual Care also oversees and ensures provision of spiritual care education and training as appropriate for the institution. He/ She communicates with and provides liaison with local spiritual/religious communities. The Director of Spiritual Care administers the Spiritual Care Department through hiring, supervising, and evaluating the performance of department staff and volunteers, and participates in the institution's management structure. The Director of Spiritual Care reports to the Vice President of Customer Service. Other information:Education and Experience Required -Graduate theological degree from an accredited school of theology Four units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) in an accredited CPE program Minimum of five years’ experience as a staff chaplain Preferred. CPE Residency in a center that includes pediatrics preferred Spiritual care experience beyond CPE in a pediatric setting preferred Three to five years management/leadership experience preferred Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries Ordination, licensure, endorsement, or recognition by a spiritual community Certification by a professional chaplain certifying entity at the time of hire is preferred. If not certified at the time of hire, a timetable for determining a certification path will be established within the first two years of employment. Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:Education with Equivalent Qualifications:Essential: - Bachelors of Science or Arts in Theology or Masters Degree in Theology. Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:Essential: - 5 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Spiritual Care. The mission of Spiritual Care at Children’s of Alabama is to provide spiritual support and resources to the patients and families we serve, while also facilitating an environment of care that is uplifting and inclusive. Our team of staff and volunteers provide 24/7, in-house coverage for 368 inpatient beds and 65 Emergency Department beds. Spiritual Care is an integral part of the family centered, wholistic healthcare provided at Children’s of Alabama. Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am-4:30 pm, Day Shift, Monday-Friday Standard Days
