Student - Residence Life Office Assistant (Summer Position)

Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a student employee as a Summer Front Desk Assistant for the Office of Residence life located in the Green Center on campus. Front Desk Assistants are students who work towards the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the Office of Residence Life through providing support and assistance to summer central office members, prospective students, and current residents. This position’s primary focus is to ensure that the Office Residence Life has coverage and availability to assist and answer questions about housing. This position is open to any SNHU work study and commuter students are also welcome to apply. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Be present, attentive, and accessible to community members at the front desk in the Residence Life Office Welcome community members into the office and direct them as needed, following central office assistant guidelines. Learning about Residence Life policies and processes Attend Training session before scheduled shifts. Answer community members’ questions or direct them to offices/resources where they can find answers Support Res Life staff with administrative tasks as assigned Conduct basic organizational tasks in the office (work room, printer/office area, and desk itself) Submit maintenance requests as needed Help track and organize program supplies and equipment. Document any community members’ concerns that arise and share with supervisor Connect with Residence Life staff or Public Safety as needed if any emergent, escalated, or disorderly situations occur Enforce Residence Life policy Support the guest registration process Minimum Qualifications: Must be a full-time on campus student at Southern New Hampshire University Policy violations will be reviewed and considered prior to position offers or pursuit of candidacy in the selection process Preferred Qualifications: Applicants who have been an active member of a residential area for at least one semester before starting appointment Learning Outcomes: Develop an understanding of community and the ways in which the front desk supports community development. Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
