We have a journey-level opportunity for an IT System Administrator who can support, manage, and maintain systems that support administrative and operational functions. You will be working with a team of experienced system administrators to serve both internal and external customers. In this role, the primary responsibility is providing technical support to business process needs and to virtual and physical systems infrastructure that support IT staff and administrative operations across the enterprise. You are responsible for supporting clustered storage environments and their dependencies, which requires advanced server knowledge. Your broad technical knowledge of multiple networks, platforms, and computing environments—and the tools and software needed to manage these environments that house large data stores—is required. In addition, the IT Infrastructure team will be involved in several upcoming projects focused on system modernization, and participation in these projects will provide exposure to cloud technologies and other modern platforms. This opportunity may be hybrid/telework, and the official duty station is Medical Lake, WA. Some of what you’ll do:Serve as a Systems Administrator for on-premises and virtual server systems supporting FTAA DIT Administration Operations. Create, implement, and maintain IT standards that affect virtual server and virtual PC infrastructure. Develop standards including software deployment, installation, and configuration. Provide guidance and mentoring for other IT team members in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and consulting tasks for complex systems, projects, or operational problems impacting multiple business units. Utilize system management tools to monitor and maintain server systems and proactively respond to issues and errors. Work with IT technical staff to migrate and manage systems in cloud-based environments. Support and maintain existing, high-risk, mission-critical servers and applications. Maintain Windows Server systems using best practices and frameworks to ensure system functionality, reliability, and compliance with federal and state security requirements, including patching, securing, encrypting, and keeping systems on supported software versions. Ensure the best possible data network performance using available resources and keep network hardware up to date with current firmware and BIOS versions. Coordinate, plan, and document implementation of new systems and hardware for business partners. Work with IT staff in planning migrations to upgraded operating systems and replacement hardware.
