Participate in safe and effective clinical medical physics duties, under supervision commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility as determined by the Medical Physics Residency Director. Responsibilities Essential Functions - Develop personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the medical physics and radiation oncology staff. These clinical duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Radiation dosimetry calibrations and measurements. 2. Linear accelerator quality assurance. 3. Radiation safety measures. 4. Radiotherapy treatment planning. 5. Fabrication and quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment aids such as immobilization devices, custom blocks, custom compensators, bolus, etc. 6. Low dose rate and high dose rate brachytherapy dosimetry and quality assurance. 7. Stereotactic radiosurgery dosimetry and quality assurance. 8. Intensity modulated radiotherapy dosimetry and quality assurance. - The resident is expected to work on the educational and scholarly activities of the program and, as required, assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students, when deemed competent to do so by the Medical Physics Residency Director. - The resident is expected to participate in departmental and institutional committees and councils, especially those related to technical, safety, and patient care activities. Actively participate in the continuous evaluation of the educational quality of the program. - Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, guests and all members of the healthcare team, in a professional manner. - Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. - Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/ Training Doctorate or Master’s degree in medical physics, physics, or engineering, and eligibility for certification by the American Board of Radiology. Licensure/ Certification Current license in the State of Florida as a Medical Physicist In-Training renewed annually.
