This role is ideal for a seasoned operations professional seeking to join Align’s Research and Development organization. In this hybrid position, you will coordinate the scale-up of direct fabrication capabilities across material blending and device manufacturing, working at the intersection of R&D, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, and Sourcing teams. You will advise on facility and equipment strategy, recommend solutions to cross-functional challenges, and contribute to the successful transition of aligners, retainers, and other advanced medical devices from development into full-scale production — directly supporting the company’s next generation of products and long-term growth. This is a hybrid role requiring travel up to 50%, with remote work arrangements available. Coordinate the scale-up of material blending and direct fabrication manufacturing operations across multiple product lines. Advise R&D, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Process Engineering teams on facility and equipment readiness throughout the scale-up process. Facilitate information sharing and alignment across cross-functional teams to support coordinated decision-making. Recommend equipment strategies and suggest process improvements to support manufacturing readiness and efficiency. Guide engineering and construction contractors on direct fabrication facility requirements for both resin blending and device manufacturing. Contribute to budget planning for capital equipment, facilities buildout, and engineering services. Coordinate capital equipment procurement from selection through purchase requisition, purchase order, delivery, and installation. Suggest and evaluate contract terms for equipment, services, and materials in partnership with Sourcing-NPI to establish supply agreements with strategic suppliers. Oversee custom and off-the-shelf capital equipment evaluation, selection, and qualification. Coordinate and communicate with vendors across the implementation life-cycle. Participate in design reviews for equipment and facilities to ensure manufacturing readiness. Oversee equipment delivery schedules and coordinate facilities construction activities. Track current and planned manufacturing capacity against the commercial forecast, recommending adjustments as future equipment changes and upgrades are incorporated into the capacity plan. Support and optimize current manufacturing efforts in San Jose while coordinating expansion to additional locations.
