Pitt EDGE is the University of Pittsburgh’s central hub for digital education, housed within the Office of the Provost. This inaugural Center advances the University’s strategic vision for online, hybrid, and continuing education by partnering with Pitt’s 16 schools to expand access and improve quality for diverse learners. Pitt EDGE supports the full lifecycle of digital learning through services such as instructional design, technology integration, market analysis, academic planning, recruitment, and quality assurance. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or above 3-5 years of experience working in higher education. Drives strategic growth and planning of all online courses and programs for a school. Spearheads the implementation strategy and application of online courses and program delivery policies. Oversees delivery of one or more complex education or training programs. Manages budgetary matters. The Director of Online Academic Programs provides portfolio oversight of Pitt EDGE online and hybrid academic offerings, including degree-granting and academic certificate programs. The role reports to the Executive Director of University Digital Education and partners closely with academic program directors, department chairs, and faculty to support the development and delivery of new high-quality online and hybrid programs. The director leads program discovery processes, supervises instructional designers responsible for course development, and serves as the primary liaison between Pitt EDGE and academic program directors. This position oversees course design timelines, supports faculty collaboration, and ensures the consistent application of quality standards, compliance measures, and instructional design best practices across the online academic program portfolio. Key Responsibilities - Provide portfolio leadership for Pitt EDGE online and hybrid academic programs, including degree-granting and academic certificate offerings. - Lead program discovery sessions with academic program directors and faculty to support development of new online and hybrid programs. - Serve as the primary liaison between Pitt EDGE and academic leads, facilitating collaboration during program and course development. - Supervise and manage a team of instructional designers responsible for developing online academic courses. - Oversee course design and development timelines to support successful program launches. - Implement and maintain quality and compliance standards and review processes for online academic courses. - Support continuous improvement of course design and instructional practices across the academic program portfolio. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work with computing technology. This position involves extensive screen time.
