The Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at Winston-Salem State University is seeking Adjunct Faculty to provide part-time instruction in undergraduate-level courses in Accounting, Business Law, Business Communications, Economics, and Finance either in person or online classes. Can vary from 5 to 10 months based on Department needs Position Number AJC 137 Requirements and Preferences Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies No Minimum Experience/ Education Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting, Business Law, Economics, or Finance Experience in the subject area is preferred Professional certification or significant current experience may be acceptable in some cases Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and diverse populations Normal Work Schedule Ability to teach weekdays and/or evenings Online classes – must be available for virtual office hours In-person classes – must be available to teach weekdays and/or evenings Department Required Skills Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting, Business Law, Economics, or Finance Successful candidates must adhere to the mission of the University and College Must have strong communication and instructional skills Must be able to deliver course content aligned with institutional standards Must be able to effectively teach assigned classes, grade assignments, provide timely student feedback, and post grades adhering to university deadlines and policies Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and diverse populations Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Master’s degree in the field for undergraduate teaching Recent college-level teaching experience. Practical experience in a business setting Demonstrated classroom management skills and effective interactions with students, faculty, staff, and administration Required License or Certification None Valid US Driver's License No Commercial Driver's License Required No Physical Required No List any other medical/drug tests required None Primary Responsibilities and Duties Primary Responsibilities and Duties Describe the specific job duties related to this competency Adjunct faculty will teach assigned classes, maintain office hours (a way for students to contact and receive guidance from the faculty member), grade assignments, provide feedback to students, and post grades while adhering to relevant university policies Suitably challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect Complete grade books, mid-term and final grade submission, learning assessments, and final exam assessments on a timely basis Respond to student questions on a timely basis Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus Percentage Of Time 100 Posting Details Posting Details Internal Posting Only No Position Type Temporary Time Limited Position Yes Appointment Length 1-2 Semesters Salary Salary is commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
